#sns-001 - Console Only! - This beauty is a pre-owned original Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) console, hard to find in this condition. The Super Nintendo or SNES followed the NES as the Next Generation Nintendo System and raised the bar for video game designers around the world. With better graphics, more memory and upgrades of all your favorite games, The Super Nintendo was the system of choice. It was released by Nintendo in 1991, about a year after the introduction of its compeditor, the Sega Genesis. The Super Nintendo Entertainment System featured authentic stereo sound, simultaneous multiple scrolling backgrounds and almost twice the internal memory as its competition. The system features a sharply designed cream grey case with purple control buttons. The console measures approximately 9 5/8" X 8" X 2 7/8". It's 16-bit architecture is a great step up from the 8-bit NES. It has a 2.68 MHz Processor, 32,768 Colors, stereo sound, and 125 KB installed RAM. The SNES game system is surprisingly powerful, due in part to chips incorporated in SNES games that boosts its visual and game capabilities. This additional VRAM (or, more regularly, VROM) located in the game cartridge also often contain mapping hardware to access more of the video memory. Player manipulation of game is accomplished by the use of controllers that are plugged into two console ports. The SNES is a top-loading pin connector player that is far superior to the NES design. The SNES or Super Nintendo Entertainment System had some of the best games of its day in its library. With an all-star lineup of super popular games like Donkey Kong Country, Contra III, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Super Metroid, the Super NES sold well over 20 million systems in the U.S. alone.
