Turok: Dinosaur Hunter

N64GM018 - Developed by Iguana Entertainment, Inc. and published by Acclaim Entertainment, Inc., "Turok: Dinosaur Hunter" was released for the Nintendo 64 gaming system on February 28, 1997. Turok is more than just another 1st-Person Perspective shooter, it is an instant classic that actually lived up to the hype of its release. A totally immersive action adventure that is revolutionary in its style and presentation. The scenario of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is that you are Turok, descendant from a long line of indian hunters. You are sent to the Lost land where the villain, "the Campaigner," and his highly evolved dinosaurs, controls and enslaves the land. Its up to you to search out and collect the pieces of "the Chronoscepter," which is the only weapon that can help to destroy the Campaigner. You can use 14 high tech weapons in Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, including an Atomic Fusion Cannon and the Quad Rocket Launcher. As you progress through out the game you will find keys to other levels. And each level requires a different amount of keys. There are eight awesome levels. Another thing you will enjoy about Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is that it is far more cerebral than your normal shooter fare, allowing you to actually choose your actions carefully, and sneak up on enemies. This is a difficult challenging game that is highly addictive and enjoyable. The graphics are outstanding and the enemies in Turok look amazing, and their animations are fluid, even in dying. The ambience is stunning and the ambient sound effects are so realistic, you might think you're actually in the jungle about to be eaten. Whether Tiger roars, birds or the ominous noises of the jungle, the sounds are rendered perfectly lending to a realistic dangerous atmosphere. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter is more of an awesome experience than it is a mere game, and is a must have in any N64 Nintendo game collection. The alternate title for Turok: Dinosaur Hunter in Japan is "Tokisora Senshi Turok." Pre-owned. - M Rating for Animated Blood & Gore/Animated Violence. - Includes game cartridge only. Rarity Rating C+ - Review by NES Gamer
