#sgm0052 - SNES Game Review - Developed and Published by Capcom Co., Ltd., "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior" was released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in July of 1992. This game is a 3rd-Person Perspective action Side-Scrolling port of the original Arcade Classic that set the standard for the fight gaming industry. And Capcom sticks pretty much to the popular Arcade format, featuring all of the characters, all four bosses, two player combat and all of the classic music themes and stages. There are eight fighters that you can choose to challenge, including E. Honda, Chun Li, Zangief, Ryu, Ken, Blanka, Dhalsim and Guile. The four boss characters representing their unique country, named Sagat, Vega, M. Bison and Balrog. The great thing about Street Fighter II: The World Warrior is that each of the fighting characters has his own selection of techniques he uses in fighting, which are based on three styles of punches and three types of kick moves. Street Fighter II also pioneered the "button combination" style of fighting games that are today routinely used to perform special moves specific to characters. The fact is, Street Fighter 2 is a classic, one of the most copied games around, and has continued to influence gameplay and fighting games since its inception. It has outstanding control with lightning fast gameplay, and a style which is very well balanced. The graphics outstanding, the environments that the characters fight in are super, and the fighters are all sharp and well defined. This is one of the best SNES game values for the money, that pays for itself 100 times over. Street Fighter II is also known as "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior," "Street Fighter 2," "SF2," "SF 2," and in Japan, "Sutorito Faita Tsu".
