#gm0092 - Developed and published by Capcom U.S.A., Inc., "1943 The battle of Midway" is the rare sequel to the arcade smash hit game, 1942, just as addictive, but a lot more challenging and responsive. In this follow-up game, capcom did not seek to change the winning formula that made 1942 a classic, but improved upon it's greatness. Your plane is more maneuverable, the enemies more adaptive, and the power-ups more powerful and useful. In this scenario, you take your World War II Fighter/Bomber over the clouds in an intense battle just off the coast of Midway islands in 30 levels of great action. A continuing stream of enemy fighter planes, battleships, aircraft carriers and large Bombers keep coming at you and keep the action torrid and fast paced. There are great power-ups, including an Energy Bar (EB) to improve game play. These can be run down by either being hit from incoming fire or using a special weapon. The EB will be replenished when you pick up more power-ups. There are also special weapons (lightning, cyclones and waves) that can knock down all fighters on the screen at one time. The graphics of this game are better than a lot of the classic NES games, and the sound is very good as well. The overall graphics, sound and classic game play make this a must have for any NES collector. Rarity Rating C+. 143 NES Game Review by Prince "Nes Gamers."
